About
This course is a year-long drama elective for giving junior high school students the opportunity to explore acting and the different roles in drama. The goal of this course is to teach students some of the basics of theatre such as improv and character development as well as explore putting on a play of their own.
Drama is meant to be a positive learning experience, and hopefully, one that will carry with students throughout their lives. My goal is to develop in the student an understanding and appreciation for the various types plays written throughout different time periods and to have the opportunity to try acting possibly for the first time. Participation in a drama class teaches the importance of a cooperative effort, acceptance of leadership and the need for discipline and maturity. My goal is that students leave my class knowing that they can act and have an understanding of how a play is produced and how to identify and appreciate a well done drama work.
