Practice Log
Every Monday the Practice Logs are due, unless it falls on the holiday break and then turn in after the holiday.
Minimum of 60 minutes a week; or 15 minutes a night 4 times a week. You may note extra time on the sheet. If you did only two nights you could do 30 minutes; or 20 minutes per night for three nights. You may choose however you practice as long as it is at least 60 minutes a week. The Choir Practice Homework Logs are worth 20 points every week. If not handed in, then students will receive a zero for their homework grade. If handed in late, then students will have to have points taken away for being late and will not receive full credit. |
Tips for Practicing
1. Always practice in a good mindset; positive practice is better than negative angry practice. Find a place where you will not be disturbed for about 15 minutes and can maintain proper posture. Make sure your face, neck, and shoulders are relaxed.
2. Always sing a warm-up that includes breathing, articulation, and focus. You don’t have to use the choir warm-ups. Another song or hymn works well, too. 3. Work on technique every time you practice. Singing pitches is muscle memory, so practices technique until it comes automatically. 4. Practice the things you don’t know, first, and slowly, then gradually speed up. 5. Practice Solfege every day and then alternate on our repertoire. 6. Practice at least 10-15 minutes a day, but do not strain. 7. Always be prepared for rehearsal. Do not waste your teacher’s time or the time of other choir members. |
